What we collect, what we don't, and the choices you have.

The short version

• You don't need an account to use HomeOutlay, and we don't ask for your name or email to run a calculator.
• The numbers you type stay in your browser. They are saved in the page address (so you can share a link) and are not sent to us.
• We use privacy-friendly analytics that do not set cookies.
• We show, or plan to show, ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve and measure those ads.

Who we are

HomeOutlay ("we", "us") runs the website homeoutlay.com, a collection of free home cost calculators. Questions about this policy: hello@homeoutlay.com.

Information we collect

Calculator inputs

Room sizes, prices and other values you enter are processed in your browser. They are added to the page URL so the result can be bookmarked or shared. We do not store them on a server. Anyone you send a link to can see the values in it.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. It does not use cookies or local storage, does not track you across sites and does not build a profile of you. It records basic, aggregated data such as the page visited, referring site, country, browser type and page load speed. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Server logs and security

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. These logs are kept for a short period and are not used to identify you.

Email

If you email us, we receive your address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and delete it when it is no longer needed.

Cookies and advertising

HomeOutlay is free because of advertising. We use, or plan to use, Google AdSense to show ads.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.
• Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, and how it uses cookies in advertising, at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland), ads are shown only after you give consent through a consent banner, and you can change your choice at any time.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The calculators keep working without cookies.

The calculators remember one setting in your browser's local storage: whether you prefer US or metric units. It stays on your device, is never sent to us and is not used for advertising. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Third-party services

To load quickly, pages use a few outside services that receive your IP address when your browser requests files from them: jsDelivr and Iconify (icons) and Cloudflare (hosting and analytics). Fonts are served from our own site. Links to other websites are not covered by this policy.

Your rights in California (CCPA/CPRA)

If you live in California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. Advertising cookies set by Google may count as "sharing" under California law. To opt out, use the links in the advertising section above, turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser, or email hello@homeoutlay.com. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

Your rights in the EU and UK (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. Our legal bases are your consent (advertising cookies), our legitimate interest in running and securing the site (server logs and cookieless analytics), and replying to you (email). You can also complain to your local data protection authority. Contact hello@homeoutlay.com to use any of these rights.

Children

HomeOutlay is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy as the site grows, for example when we launch HomeOutlay Pro accounts. The date at the top shows the latest version.
